Baseball Recap: Halifax County Continues Home Dominance on Monday

Halifax County barely beat Chatham the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Comets were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Cavaliers on Monday. Considering the Comets have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Halifax County got a massive performance out of Jay Farmer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Farmer has become a key player for the Comets: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Jaharie Edmonds was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Halifax County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .560. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Halifax County pushed their record up to 9-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Chatham, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Coming up, Halifax County will take on George Washington at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Chatham, they will host Dan River at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
