Baseball Game Preview: Franklin Academy Cougars vs. Riverdale Academy Rebels

The Franklin Academy Cougars will venture away from home to square off against the Riverdale Academy Rebels at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

Things were looking good for Franklin Academy after they put the first runs on the board back in March, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 13-4 to Briarfield Academy. On the bright side, the four- run effort marked the Cougars' highest-scoring game to date.

Franklin Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jesse Killingsworth, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. Killingsworth also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season. Another was Hayden Lee, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Riverdale Academy beat Union Christian Academy 15-11 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won five in a row.

This is the second loss in a row for Franklin Academy and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Riverdale Academy, their win bumped their record up to 3-11.

Franklin Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Riverdale Academy in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, winning 8-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
