Baseball Recap: St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute Triumphs

St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 win over the Nichols Vikings. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 4, 2023, but that streak is no more.

St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute got a great performance from Matthew Anzalone as he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Anzalone also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Marauders are 4-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 2-3 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Giorgio Panepinto, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was James VanEgmond, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.

St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Nichols, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
