Volleyball Recap: Jefferson Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Jefferson took on Spring Mills on Tuesday. The Cougars came up short against the Cardinals, falling 3-0. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cardinals earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

While Jefferson was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Spring Mills' winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-19, 26-24.

Jefferson's offense was headlined by Sarah Diaz and Kylie Cline, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Liv Mercer and her 11 assists. Jaslynn Parrotte controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Spring Mills' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mallory Schlosser, who had 27 digs and two aces. What's more, Schlosser posted two assists, the most she's had since back in September. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabrielle Malatt, who had 12 digs and two aces.

Jefferson's loss dropped their record down to 6-11-3. As for Spring Mills, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8-1 record this season.

Jefferson didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Millbrook on the 9th. As for Spring Mills, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Grace Academy on the 11th.
