Soccer Game Preview: Escalon vs. Ripon

The Escalon Cougars will square off against the Ripon Indians at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Escalon's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Escalon fell victim to Ripon Christian and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They lost 6-0 to the Knights. The shutout was out of character for the Cougars seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in December of 2024.

Meanwhile, neither Ripon nor Sonora could gain the upper hand on Wednesday so the two teams had to settle for a 2-2 draw.

Escalon's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11-6. Ripon's draw gives them a new season record of 10-10-4.

Escalon beat Ripon by a goal in their previous matchup back in January, winning 2-1. Will Escalon repeat their success, or does Ripon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
