 Southern entered their tilt with Jefferson County Christian with two consecutive wins  but they'll enter their next game with three. They won by a  run and slipped past the Jefferson County Christian Royals  6-5. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Southern also won the last time the pair played  back in May of 2023.
 Southern let  Zac Mayfield and  Mason Pitts loose on the outfield. Mayfield  scored a  run while going 2-for-4, while  Pitts  scored a  run while going 2-for-4.
 On Jefferson County Christian's side,  Carson Duvall made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 2-for-3. Duvall is on a roll when it comes to  stolen bases, as he's  now  stolen  at least one in the last three games he's  played. Another player making a difference was  Wyatt Hervey, who  scored a  run and  stole four bases while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances.
 Southern pushed their record up to 3-0 with that  win, which was their fifth straight  at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 10.2 runs per game. As for Jefferson County Christian, they now  have a losing record at 2-3.
 Southern will head out on the road to  face off against  Wellsville at 5:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. As for Jefferson County Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bridgeport at 6:00  p.m.  on Saturday.
