Volleyball Recap: Liberty Takes a Loss

Liberty was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They came up short against the Garfield G-Men, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the G-Men this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on September 2nd.

The final score came out to 25-15, 25-16, 25-6.

Kennedy Malone paced Liberty's offense, picking up three kills. Malone were helped by Kiera Thigpen and Saffron Blank, who contributed three assists each. Finally, Chloe Triplett kept Liberty's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Among those leading the charge was Lily Shay, who had 11 digs. She has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last three times she's played. Olivia Kuchenbecker also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Liberty's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Garfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Liberty didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against LaBrae on the 30th. As for Garfield, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against John F. Kennedy Catholic on the 29th.
