Basketball Recap: Sacred Heart-Griffin Takes a Loss

Sacred Heart-Griffin fought the good fight in their overtime match against Rochester on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 67-66 to the Rochester Rockets. The Cyclones haven't had much luck with the Rockets recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Rochester found their leader in sophomore Eli Cox, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. Cox also set a new season-high mark in steals with four. Another player making a difference was Jack Melton, who posted 13 points along with eight boards and three steals.

Sacred Heart-Griffin's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-8. As for Rochester, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Sacred Heart-Griffin wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 58-51 defeat against Metamora on the 20th. As for Rochester, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 63-46 victory against Jacksonville on the 18th.
