Basketball Recap: Carson Baxley's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Central over Destin

Central lost against Destin back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Central Jaguars fell 60-53 to the Destin Sharks.

Central lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Carson Baxley, who went 7 of 16 en route to 21 points and three steals. Baxley has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Isaac Mathews, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.

Destin found their leader in sophomore Calix McCune, who went 9 of 13 on his way to 25 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Crawford, who posted seven points.

Central has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Destin, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5.

Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-39 defeat against Pleasant Home on the 14th. As for Destin, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 57-27 victory against Florala on the 14th.
