Basketball Recap: Arien Cooper's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lincoln County over Buffalo

Lincoln County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost to the Buffalo Bison on the road by a 66-50 margin. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bison this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-40 back in January.

Lincoln County lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Arien Cooper, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 23 boards. Those 23 rebounds gave her a new career-high. Brooklyn Stickler was another key player, putting up seven points and seven steals.

Even though they lost, Lincoln County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

It was another big night for Brooke Woods, who dropped a double-double with 37 points and ten boards for Buffalo. That makes it three consecutive games in which Woods has scored at least a third of Buffalo's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Camryn Samples, who went 6-for-10 on her way to 12 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Lincoln County's loss dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Buffalo, they pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Panthers duke it out with the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Nitro's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matchups. As for Buffalo, they will be playing at home against Ravenswood at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
