Bayside dropped their record down to 5-5 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 7-1 to the Richmond Hill Lions. If the Commodores were looking for revenge after losing 5-4 to the Lions when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Richmond Hill, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games.

For Richmond Hill's part, Dwan Fernandez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Fernandez has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Malachi Butler tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Abel Ortiz, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Christopher Duarte was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bayside will face off against Francis Lewis at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Commodores surely won't give up without a fight. As for Richmond Hill, they will host Newtown at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
