Recap: Spalding Jaguars vs. Westside Seminoles
The Spalding Jaguars put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They claimed a resounding 48-21 victory over Westside on the road. The result was nothing new for Spalding, who have now won six matchups by 27 points or more so far this season.
Spalding got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Robert Henderson out in front who picked up 108 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Cedric Evans also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Westside had strong showings from Kadiphius Iverson, who rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns, and Jessie Bell, who rushed for 121 yards and a touchdown. Bell is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.
Spalding's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 9-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.6 points per game. As for Westside, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.
Spalding will be playing at home against Perry at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Perry knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matches -- so hopefully Spalding likes a good challenge. As for Westside, they will head out on the road to face off against Baldwin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
