Football Recap: Vista Meridian Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Vista Meridian unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by the Desert Christian Knights and fell 50-0. If the Meridian Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 50-6 to the Knights when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Ray Latimore had a dynamite game For Desert Christian., rushing for 52 yards and three TDs. Latimore also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing one fumble and making five total tackles. Another rusher making a difference was Didiel Molina Reyes, who gained 25 total yards and two touchdowns.

Vista Meridian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Calvary Baptist at 7:00 p.m. on September 4. As for Desert Christian, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Laton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
