Basketball Recap: Zander Mchenry's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Connersville over Delta

Connersville lost against Delta back in November of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Connersville Spartans took a 48-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Delta Eagles. The Spartans were down 41-15 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zander McHenry, who posted six points. Maddox Rees was another key player, putting up six points.

Leading Delta to victory were Bronson Edwards and Jordan Furney. Edwards went 5 of 8 on his way to 13 points along with five boards and three steals, while Furney had 12 points and six rebounds. What's more, Furney also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Chase Ritchie was another key player, posting six points.

Connersville dropped their record down to 1-1 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Connersville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 40-37 victory against Rushville on the 6th. As for Delta, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-40 defeat against Mt. Vernon on the 6th.
