The Celina Bulldogs will challenge the Ansonia Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Celina has four straight victories, Ansonia has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Wednesday, Celina made easy work of New Knoxville and carried off a 17-2 win.

Chance Miller made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. That home run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Nick Steinbrunner was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and one stolen base. Celina is 5-1 when Steinbrunner posts three or more hits, but 5-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brodee Schulte-Arnold, who went 3-for-5 with three runs.
Celina was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .606. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Milton-Union hit Ansonia with a four-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers fell 10-5 to the Bulldogs.
Cainan Robinson was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Celina pushed their record up to 10-10 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Ansonia, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.
Ansonia's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Celina hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .312. It's a different story for Ansonia, though, as they've only averaged .239. Will they be able to contain Celina's hitters?
Celina beat Ansonia 11-6 in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
