It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Bloomfield had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the St. Pius X Sartans. The win was nothing new for the Bobcats as they're now sitting on three straight.
Trae Woods made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cable Carruth, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Gavin Pecotte, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Bloomfield's victory bumped their record up to 24-6. As for St. Pius X, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-12.
Looking ahead, Bloomfield will venture away from home to face off against Artesia at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
