Basketball Game Preview: Pleasanton Eagles vs. Uvalde Coyotes/Lobos (for girls)

The Pleasanton Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Uvalde Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Pleasanton is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Floresville on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Pleasanton lost 50-28 to Floresville. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1022nd, while the Tigers/Jaguars are ranked 507th).

Meanwhile, Uvalde earned a 53-43 victory over Carrizo Springs on Friday.

Uvalde's win came from a few key players Pleasanton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Amilee Pulido, who posted 22 points. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. Natalia Cabralez was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Uvalde is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-17 record this season. As for Pleasanton, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-16 record this season.

Pleasanton was able to grind out a solid win over Uvalde in their previous meeting back in January, winning 49-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pleasanton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
