Baseball Game Preview: Huntington Red Devils vs. Onalaska Wildcats

The Huntington Red Devils will square off against the Onalaska Wildcats on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Huntington is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Anahuac a 10-0 shutout.

Huntington let Peyton Herrington and Evan Aldava run wild. Herrington went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Aldava went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Alex Havard was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, Onalaska came tearing into Saturday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They beat the Bulldogs by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-3.

Huntington has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-6-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Onalaska, they pushed their record up to 18-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Everything went Huntington's way against Onalaska when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Huntington made off with an 11-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
