Basketball Game Preview: Interlachen Rams vs. Destin Sharks

The Interlachen Rams and the Destin Sharks will face off at 3:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

On Thursday, 2025 welcomed Interlachen with an 88-62 loss courtesy of Palatka. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite their defeat, Interlachen saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Devon Williams, who went 8 of 20 en route to 23 points and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Williams has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Dante Astin, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.

Even though they lost, Interlachen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 38 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Destin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. 2025 welcomed they with a 73-49 loss courtesy of Hilliard. While losing is never fun, the Sharks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 407th, while the Red Flashes are ranked 203rd).

Interlachen's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Destin, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
