The El Cerrito Gauchos are taking a road trip to square off against the Salesian College Preparatory Pride at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
El Cerrito's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Kennedy 19-0. The win was nothing new for the Gauchos as they're now sitting on four straight.

Natalia Gawlikowski made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Arlie Tatum was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Journee Teasley, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
El Cerrito was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .419 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Salesian College Preparatory entered their tilt with St. Patrick-St. Vincent on Thursday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. They were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over the Bruins.
Like El Cerrito, Salesian College Preparatory also got a great game from a two-way player: DeAmor Coleman. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Coleman was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Matea Gaddies, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Gloria Alcaire, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with four runs, one double, and one RBI.
Salesian College Preparatory pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for El Cerrito, their record is now 17-2.
Both El Cerrito and Salesian College Preparatory just can't seem to miss. The Gauchos have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Salesian College Preparatory struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
El Cerrito suffered a grim 16-0 defeat to Salesian College Preparatory in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Gauchos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
