Baseball Recap: Snow Canyon Takes Down Ranked Dixie

Snow Canyon faced Dixie in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. Snow Canyon put the hurt on Dixie with a sharp 13-1 victory. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

Dewy Gibb made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Snow Canyon let Kade Kelsch and Ledger Shipp run wild. Kelsch went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one double, while Shipp scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave Shipp a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Trey Vaughn, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Snow Canyon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .367 or higher in five consecutive games.

Snow Canyon pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Dixie, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-7.

Snow Canyon will have a chance to go back-to-back against Dixie: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
