Baseball Recap: Weir Takes a Loss

Weir fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Grafton on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bearcats by a score of 11-10. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bearcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-4 on Monday.

Weir saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucas McAllister, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. McAllister is becoming a predictor of the Red Riders' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-2 (and 7-16 when he doesn't). Jonathan Horstman was another, going 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Weir dropped their record down to 12-18 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Grafton, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 19-16 record this season.

Weir does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Grafton, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 15-3 loss against Fairmont Senior on the 16th.
