Softball Recap: Sussex Tech Takes Down Ranked Polytech

Sussex Tech faced Polytech in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Ravens sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Panthers. The victory was familiar territory for the Ravens, who have now won four contests in a row.

Cierra Lewis made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Lewis wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Isabella Brittingham, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Sussex Tech's win bumped their record up to 17-3. As for Polytech, the defeat snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 19-6 record.

As of now, neither Sussex Tech nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
