Recap: South Barber Chieftains vs. Covington-Douglas Wildcats
After flying high against the Caldwell Bluejays last Friday, the South Barber Chieftains came back down to earth. South Barber took a 43-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Covington-Douglas on Thursday.
Covington-Douglas' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Derrek Daugherty led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Daugherty has scored at least 25% of Covington-Douglas' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ford Smith, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
South Barber's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Covington-Douglas, their win bumped their record up to 1-3.
South Barber will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against South Haven. South Haven and South Barber are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. Covington-Douglas won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Timberlake.
