Basketball Recap: Legacy Academy Sets Scoring Season-High Against Socorro

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Legacy Academy). They took down the Socorro Warriors 76-58 on Friday. This was payback for the Silverbacks, who suffered a 64-28 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Legacy Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bryant Scales, who went 9 for 13 on his way to 22 points and six rebounds. What's more, Scales also racked up four assists, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Daniel Tavarez was another key player, going 7 of 12 on his way to 15 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Legacy Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Luke Ganadonegro, who posted 17 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaquavis Brawley, who put up 13 points and five rebounds.

Legacy Academy's record is now 5-3. As for Socorro, they dropped their record down to 4-5 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Legacy Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 61-53 win against Cottonwood Classical Prep on the 4th. As for Socorro, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-55 defeat against Mesilla Valley Christian School on the 4th.
