Football Recap: Loyalsock Township Falls to Mifflinburg in First Game of Season

Loyalsock Township had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a blow against the Mifflinburg Wildcats, falling 47-13. The Lancers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-0.

Although Loyalsock Township took the loss, they still got scores from Clynton Taylor and Jalil Coates.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed seven in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Coates, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Mifflinburg had a senior duo take command as Chad Martin threw for 172 yards and four TDs and Landen Murray gained 87 total yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Cole Reibsome, who picked up 31 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Loyalsock Township has already played their next matchup, a 41-0 defeat against Southern Columbia Area on the 29th. As for Mifflinburg, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 42-14 victory against Danville on the 29th.
