Volleyball Recap: Speedway Gets the Win

Speedway hasn't had much luck at home recently (they'd lost four straight ) but thanks in part to Sienna Hileman that streak is no more. The Sparkplugs narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Mooresville Pioneers 3-2 with plenty of help from Hileman, who had 23 digs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 10.6 digs per game.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Speedway who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 20-25, 25-21, 25-27, 15-7.

Several Pioneers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Meadow Morancey, who had 19 digs and three assists. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Holtzclaw, who had 11 digs.

Speedway's win bumped their record up to 4-14. As for Mooresville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Speedway will head out to square off against Indianapolis Crispus Attucks at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mooresville, they will venture away from home to challenge Whiteland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
