Football Recap: Brandon Piles Up the Points Against Meridian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Brandon). They blew past the Meridian Wildcats 40-13 on Thursday. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Wildcats are ranked 92nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Brandon's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Cody Wilson, Cam Williams, and Ashton Moore, who each picked up one sack apiece. Wilson was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making seven total tackles.

The victory made it two in a row for Brandon and bumps their season record up to 5-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 23 points in those games. As for Meridian, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Looking ahead, Brandon will head out on the road to challenge Ocean Springs at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Greyhounds have now posted at least 31 points in their last four contests. Meridian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
