Recap: Fruitdale Pirates vs. McIntosh Demons
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Fruitdale Pirates ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They managed a 40-36 win over McIntosh. The win made it back-to-back wins for Fruitdale.
Genna Ivy was her usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with nine rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Fruitdale's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anaya Smith, who scored eight points.
Fruitdale's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-9. As for McIntosh, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
Fruitdale won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Millry at 2:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Millry comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 13 points in their last eight games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. McIntosh's road trip will continue as they head out to face Citronelle at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th.
