Baseball Recap: Lewis-Palmer's Run of Eight Straight Wins Now Over

Lewis-Palmer dropped their record down to 17-3 on Saturday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Pine Creek Eagles by a score of 5-3. The Rangers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Lewis-Palmer saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alvin Jarrell, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

As for Pine Creek, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.

On Pine Creek's side, Aiden Wilson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Those 12 strikeouts gave Wilson a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Javier Jackson was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Kyle McDonnell was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs.

Lewis-Palmer and Pine Creek should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. The Rangers (ranked tenth) will meet Mullen (ranked 58th) at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Pine Creek will square off against Doherty at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (12 vs. 83).
