Basketball Recap: Ava Tupou's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Kearns over West Jordan

Kearns lost against West Jordan back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Kearns Cougars lost 67-41 to the West Jordan Jaguars. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Cougars have suffered since November 22, 2024.

Kearns lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ava Tupou, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mina Kinikini, who went 5 for 9 en route to 10 points.

Marlee Reupena was her usual excellent self, going 13 of 24 on her way to 30 points along with eight steals and seven boards for West Jordan. Reupena is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played. Giselle Muffett was another key player, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Kearns and nudges their season record down to 6-8. As for West Jordan, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

Kearns has already played their next game, a 34-31 victory against Cyprus on the 21st. As for West Jordan, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 58-41 win against Hunter on the 21st.
