Baseball Recap: Port Allen Picks Up 11th Consecutive Win

Port Allen came tearing into Saturday's match with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the White Castle Bulldogs as they made off with a 17-1 win. Considering the Pelicans have won 15 games by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Port Allen let Hunter Bodin and Jack Dickinson run wild. Bodin got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Dickinson scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. James Fontenot was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Port Allen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .708. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in eight consecutive contests.

Port Allen's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for White Castle, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-11.

Port Allen and White Castle will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. Port Allen is set to take on their familiar foe University Lab at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, White Castle will face off against rival East Iberville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
