Football Game Preview: Show Low Cougars vs. Apache Junction Prospectors

The Show Low Cougars will square off against the Apache Junction Prospectors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Show Low has three straight victories, Apache Junction has 11 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Show Low's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Monument Valley 41-0. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 28 points or more this season.

Kash Perkins had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 131 yards and one touchdown, while also throwing for 91 yards and a pair of TDs. Those 131 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Jett Walker was another key player, rushing for 32 yards and two scores.

Show Low's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB seven times. Monument Valley's QB won't forget Luke Smith anytime soon given he sacked him four times. Smith also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 12. Another thorn in Monument Valley's side was Corbin Wood, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made 11 total tackles (6.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 34-6, which was the final score in Apache Junction's tilt against ALA - Ironwood on Friday.

Show Low's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Apache Junction, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
