Basketball Recap: Progreso Comes Up Short

Progreso's last matchup with Raymondville could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Thursday. The Red Ants were beaten by the Bearkats 63-13. The loss continues a trend for the Red Ants in their meetings with the Bearkats: they've now lost eight in a row.

Adaleigh Knight was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 45 points and 11 rebounds for Raymondville. The matchup was Knight's fourth in a row with at least 25 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Rodriguez, who posted seven points in addition to eight assists and eight steals.

Progreso's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Raymondville, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-4.

Coincidentally, Progreso and Raymondville will both be playing Freer the next time they take the court. The Bearkats will head out to face the Buckaroos at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, while the Red Ants will head out to face them at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
