Basketball Game Preview: Geneseo Maple Leafs vs. Rock Island Rocks

The Geneseo Maple Leafs will square off against the Rock Island Rocks at 1:30 p.m. on Monday.

Geneseo saw some tournament action on Saturday. The matchup between them and Stillman Valley didn't end well, with Geneseo falling 69-52. While losing is never fun, the Maple Leafs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 376th, while the Cardinals are ranked 24th).

Meanwhile, Rock Island didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Quincy on Thursday, but they still walked away with a 45-39 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rocks.

Rock Island's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-11. As for Geneseo, their loss dropped their record down to 4-14.

Things could have been worse for Geneseo, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 58-43 loss to Rock Island when the teams last played back in December of 2024.
