Gavin Markey Dazzles in Jefferson Victory

Starting off the list is Jefferson's Gavin Markey, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Markey rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, and also threw for 125 yards and two touchdowns on only nine passes. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 105 rushing yards.

Jefferson's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Markey and Jefferson will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Cherokee Bluff at 7:30 p.m. on October 25th.

Kaden (Kt) Thompson's big game helped extend Cherokee Bluff's winning streak to seven on Friday. Monroe Area had no answer to Thompson as he picked up 98 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown. Those 51 rushing yards gave Thompson a new career-high.

Cherokee Bluff's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Thompson and Cherokee Bluff will square off against Oconee County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
