Basketball Recap: Joseph Shelton's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lincoln over Leland

Lincoln lost against Leland back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Lincoln Lions fell 61-51 to the Leland Chargers. While the Lions didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Chargers 28-22 in the first quarter.

Lincoln's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joseph Shelton, who posted 19 points and six boards. That was a full 37.3% of Lincoln's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah MacKenzie, who put up 13 points and six rebounds.

Lincoln dropped their record down to 10-9 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Leland, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-8.

Lincoln wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 53-43 victory against Piedmont Hills on the 31st. Leland has also already played their next contest, a 54-34 win against Silver Creek on the 31st.
