Baseball Recap: Manchester Takes a Loss

Manchester was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cosby Titans. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 4, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Asher Blalock was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Easton Butts, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Manchester now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Cosby, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5-1 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Manchester is set to take on their familiar foe Monacan at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lancers 3.2, the Chiefs 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Cosby will square off against rival Richmond High School for the Arts at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
