Softball Recap: Gervais Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Win

Gervais took a 21-run defeat the last time they faced off against Santiam, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Cougars won by a run and slipped past the Wolverines 4-3. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.

Addy McCargar spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

Gervais' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Santiam, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-6.

Gervais will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wolverines: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
