After both having extra time off, the Excel Christian Warriors and the Coleville Wolves will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Excel Christian has six straight victories, Coleville has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Excel Christian's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed two weeks ago. They were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over Carlin. That looming 19-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Warriors yet this season.
Tommy Schoech made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Grayson King was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Sam Mori was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Excel Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .543 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, while it was Coleville who put the first runs on the board two weeks ago, it was Virginia City who put up more. The Wolves came up short against the Muckers, falling 14-4. That's two games in a row now that the Wolves have lost by exactly ten runs.
JAY SWAN put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. What's more, he gave up only three walks, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those stolen bases marked the first that he snagged this season.
In other batting news, GAVIN PALADINO was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Andrew Watson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
Excel Christian's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.7 runs over those games. As for Coleville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
Coleville's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Excel Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .412. It's a different story for Coleville, though, as they've only averaged .242. Will they be able to contain Excel Christian's hitters?
Everything went Excel Christian's way against Coleville when the teams last played back in March, as Excel Christian made off with a 20-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
