Football Recap: Brawley Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Brawley played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 28-7 to the Rancho Bernardo Broncos. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 312th, while the Broncos are ranked 134th).

Jonathan Moreno threw for 27 yards on three of five attempts. On the ground, Jonathan Piseno rushed for 52 yards and one TD.

Rancho Bernardo found their leader in sophomore Gaige Weddle, who threw for 217 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 47 yards. Cristiaan Gonzalez was another key player, picking up 81 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Brawley's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Rancho Bernardo, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Brawley will square off against Mission Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Rancho Bernardo, they will challenge Torrey Pines at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
