Basketball Recap: Hendrick Hudson Comes Up Short

Hendrick Hudson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 65-54 to the Rye Garnets. The Sailors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Garnets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2022.

When it comes to explaining why Hendrick Hudson lost, don't look at Kaitlyn Raguso. Despite the final result, she dropped a triple-double on 25 points, 12 rebounds, and ten steals. With that strong performance, Raguso is now averaging an impressive 16.8 points per game. Elyse Smith was another key player, going 5 of 8 on her way to 12 points.

Even though they lost, Hendrick Hudson was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Hendrick Hudson's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hendrick Hudson will take on Washingtonville in a holiday battle at at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Rye, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Westlake on January 11, 2025.
