Two dominant guards in Lily Cooper and Zoe Mercado are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Southington Blue Knights will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the East Hartford Hornets at 6:45 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Southington's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Cooper, who scored 13 points along with six assists and six rebounds, and Bethany Borges, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Borges scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Doherty, who scored 11 points along with three steals.

Meanwhile, East Hartford beat Bloomfield 56-44 on Monday. Given East Hartford's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Bloomfield is ranked 171st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
