Preview: Waterford Lancers vs. Windham Whippets

The Waterford Lancers will be playing at home against the Windham Whippets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Waterford and five for Windham.

Waterford pushed their score all the way to 69 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Fitch by a score of 72-69. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (55), Waterford still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Windham came up short against East Lyme on Tuesday and fell 59-48. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Windham has scored all season.

Despite their defeat, Windham saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Malcolm Hunter, who scored 11 points along with five assists and five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Anthony Green was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals and two blocks.

Waterford dropped their record down to 7-8 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Windham, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

Waterford didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Windham when the teams last played two weeks ago, but they still walked away with a 54-49 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Windham's Tahj Jones, who scored 24 points along with six steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Waterford still be able to contain Jones? There's only one way to find out.
