Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Barstow walked away with it. They blew past the Serrano Diamondbacks 34-12 on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Aztecs sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.

It was another big night for Nicholas Gaoa, who rushed for 138 yards and three TDs, and also picked up 69 receiving yards. He has been hot, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jarvis (JJ) Applewhite, who rushed for 24 yards and one score.

Another reason for the win was Barstow's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. In that department, Iosefa Lealofi was the leader with 2.5.

Barstow's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Serrano, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.

Coming up, Barstow will take on La Canada at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Aztecs 14.6, the Spartans 10.4) so any points scored will be well earned. Serrano does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
