Highland faced Higley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Hawks fell just short of the Knights by a score of 3-2. The Hawks' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Highland sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-20, 23-25, 25-19, 20-25, 15-13.

Britton Skousen had an outrageously good game for Higley as he had 23 digs and two aces. That's the most digs Skousen has posted since back in May of 2024.

Highland's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 17-8-1. As for Higley, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-3-2.

Highland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Tucson High Magnet School on the 9th. As for Higley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Mountain View on the 10th.
