Baseball Game Preview: Buena Chiefs vs. Gloucester County Tech

The Buena Chiefs will face off against Gloucester County Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Buena is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

Buena made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Absegami, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Chiefs fell just short of the Braves by a score of 10-8 on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Gloucester County Tech earned a 5-1 victory over Williamstown on Thursday. Gloucester County Tech hasn't had any issues with Williamstown recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Zack Hahn looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Gloucester County Tech is 8-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 5-6-1 otherwise. Alex Valay relieved him and did a solid job, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jackson Dolson, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Reed Murphy, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Gloucester County Tech's victory bumped their record up to 13-8-1. As for Buena, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.

Buena beat Gloucester County Tech 7-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Will the Chiefs repeat their success, or do Gloucester County Tech have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
