Football Recap: East Providence Takes a Loss

The matchup between East Providence and Westerly on Friday hardly resembled the 26-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Townies were outmatched by the Bulldogs and fell 55-13. The Townies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-6.

Although East Providence took the loss, they still got scores from Isaac Rodriguez and Jacob Duarte.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed seven in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Rodriguez, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Landon Husereau was nothing short of spectacular for Westerly: he threw for 172 yards and three TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground.

East Providence now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Westerly, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

East Providence wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 48-8 victory against Mt. Pleasant on the 26th. As for Westerly, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-12 defeat against Portsmouth on the 26th.
