Basketball Recap: Exeter Takes a Loss

Exeter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They took a blow against the Jefferson Independent Day Cavaliers, falling 72-28. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 75-26 back in November of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jefferson Independent Day to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jack Twiss, who went 7 of 12 en route to 18 points and eight steals. Those eight steals gave Twiss a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kohl Thurman, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards.

Exeter's defeat dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Jefferson Independent Day, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-9.

Exeter has already played their next matchup (against Hurley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Jefferson Independent Day won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Golden City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jefferson Independent Day is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.2 points per game this season.
