Baseball Game Preview: Deer Valley Wolverines vs. Pittsburg Pirates

For the second straight game, Deer Valley will face off against Pittsburg. The Wolverines will square off against the Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Deer Valley is looking for their season's first win.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Deer Valley's offense. They lost 16-0 to Pittsburg on Tuesday.

For Pittsburg's part, J'Marion Bella made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those eight strikeouts gave Bella a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Pittsburg let Santino Valle and Ty Thompson run wild. Valle got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Thompson went 1-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases Thompson has posted since back in March. Anthony Garcia was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

The victory snapped Pittsburg's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 16-5 record. As for Deer Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-13.
